Purse bag with pink Meisen

This is the purse bag I made for S-san of Hinata cafe.
I cut out the pattern on Meisen kimono, and appliqued it on the flap.

With a strip of mustard colour linen and embroidery.

A zipper pocket at the back with my brand label.

It has a zipper pocket at the centre making 2 separate compartments,
8 card pockets and a note pocket in one, and 2 pockets in the other.

Close up of the inside.

my travel bag

I hand stitched sashiko on this gorgeous linen fabric.
and played with scrap of fabrics to make a simple collage.

I used this cute Meisen kimono fabric inside.

Since I run out of the 5cm wide buckle, I made it with a thick natural leather. ; )

requested hip bag

This is the hip bag requested by Noriko-chan.
She's going to France and she wanted to have a secure hip bag which looks cute.
She has chosen this beautiful antique Hungarian linen for the flap.
She will ask Naoko to paint her design here later.

She wanted a flat hip bag, but since flat one won't give you much room inside, I've designed it with a wider bottom.

This antique Hungarian linen has been hand died using "Kaki-shibu"(persimmon tannin).
It will get darker in colour as you use it.

There's only this zipper under the flap for security.

It has a zipper pocket, and a pocket behind it, and 6 card pockets inside.

It has a back zipper pocket too!

Remembering Fukushima Event with Hinata Cafe

On Sunday, 11 March 2012,
there was a "remembering Fukushima" event organised by CCWA.

Hinata Cafe, lead by Tomoe, have opened a small stall serving cold buckwheat noodle and blend tea for supporting people.

It was a very very hot day, and not many people were walking by, but we raised about $360, and all money will be donated to the people of Fukushima.

We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the Aboriginal people were feeling remorse about the accident as we, Japanese do.
It made us realize that Aboriginal people really treasure their land and peace from their heart, and are feeling sad that the Uranium from their land had helped to build the Nuclear power station in Japan.

If we all had the same love to our land, the world can become a safe and peaceful place to live for our children and all living beings of this planet.

first and last hip pouch

I've made this hip pouch, thinking I'll be using it.
It has 2 separate pouches stitched together.

The lid closes with a twisting thing (don't know it's proper name in English),
so it's quite safe.

It has this beautiful Meisen for the back of the lid, and the front pockets.

The front pouch has a zipper pocket inside.

The centre where two pouches are joined forms another pocket.

It has a zipper pocket at the back too.

Now that I've made it and tried it, wearing it made me realize that I didn't like using hip pouch after all.
And, it was very hard sewing the inside fabric on, that I don't think I'll be making anymore of this type.
So, this is the first and last of the hip pouch!

patched apron with Meisen

I'll be helping out the Hinata cafe this Sunday for the event run by CCWA.
It's going to be verrry hot, and I made a light weight apron for the occasion.
I've patched up off cuts of Meisen antique silk kimono together.

This is the back side.
The strap crosses at the back, so there are no tying of strings to do!
Very simple apron, and useful item to have when you want to brighten up your casual wear! ; )

Pink liberty bag with a leather handle

I've just finished this bag!
I've designed its original handle with this natural leather.

Carefully hand stitched on to the bag.

This is the side pocket with an elastic entrance.

Looks complicated when you see it from top!

This is the resin charm I made of my toy poodle Mocha.
She's sitting on this transparent macaroon. ; )

A lovely little thing!
